Rainy Day Printing ll

A very productive day of printing.  The ink was very cooperative.  I got a little over half my second-color prints done.

I'll upload a pic as soon as I can stand up straight.  I forget to sit or even drink water when I'm in the zone and I'm feeling wiped.

the block inked up and dusted with talc

The cloud area is too large to avoid ink, even with my new larger brayer, so I fell back on a trick from printlab of dusting talc on the block where I don't want it to print.  Works perfectly, tho it's a bit tedious.  Worth it tho for a clean print.

This is looking terrific. That talc really works, doesn't it? I know what you mean about it being tedious but worth it. Sometimes I have to wipe away ink in the recesses before each print. Will try talc now...

Ah, Ellen, you might be wiped out but this is coming along marvelously, really worth the effort!

Thanx folks. Double tedious, Annie, 'cuz I wipe away excess ink and then I talc. ;-] I sort of pounce it on with a rolled up piece of paper towel. Does the trick tho.

Ellen, try using a soft paintbrush to pick up the talc then brush in the areas you don't want printed. It will give you more control as well as make the talcing go faster. I use this technique when working with metallic pigment powders, a small soft brush picks up a small amount of the pigment and with a very gentle swipe lays it down on the chosen surface with out having the pigment get into the air...
