Sketch ~ Howliday Moon

Generic still.  Want to try Oscar, a better Gabby.  Size them better.  A better Meechee.

Size is variable.  I can have more trees on the side, more stars in the sky.  Then I can make it match the card shape.  Probably longer, so I might add a dog or two more (or just more trees).

Starting to draw SH dogs.

Xmas Card Sketch

First sketch.  Proof of concept.  The bright moon behind the castle and the doggies "mooning" the viewer.  ;- ]

I like the size of the castle on this one.

Night Watch

First sketch of an idea.  That is of course Signy, stealing Santa's boot as he goes back up the chimney.  ;- ]

Add a touch of color to a bw print.  red and brown.  Lighter brown can look like bronze.

Dino-Cat-Moth

I like this better.  More motion.  And they both lose out.  ;->

Adding a garden background.

Perhaps the dino-bird will be jumping up to get the moth.

Paler garden so I can see elements better.  I won't carve much of a garden ~ I'll pastel color later.

Early Bird & Cat Sketch

Early bird and a cat squaring off over lunch.

In the garden with grass and plantings (likely agapanthus, my favorite alien flower).  Plantings go diagonally across the back.

Maybe some greenery in the foreground or the mid-ground.

Trim on the Rim

Not bad.  I like the holly.  Ornaments have to be smaller.  I'm liking it.

Sketching Composition

Zeroing in on the composition and the elements.  A couple pencil sketches w/ crayon.

Another possible element is a xmasy trim around the plate ~ holly and berries.

Can't seem to stop messing.

This is with a yellow trim on the plate and a yellow xmas ball.

Another Colorway

I'm liking the hint of a tree in the background (ornaments?).  I'm also liking the cartoon-like tilted mug.  That and the steam show movement.

And something more classic.
