Cosmic Tidbits - Leftovers II

Prints are away.  This is the best signed one.  I had some trouble finding anything that would write on both the very dark prints and the lighter ones.  I opted for a silver pen for the darker prints and dark pencil on the lighter ones.  Not entirely satisfactory, but done.

I can't wait to see what prints I get back in exchange.  8-]

Leftovers II Scans

Here are some of the Leftovers II prints.  Quite a lot of variety in paper, ink and image, which adds to the charm in my opinion.  ;- ]

They're all pieces of the Once In a Blue Moon block, which tickles me.  Hey, if printmaking isn't fun, why do it?  ;- y

Now I'll pick 14 of the best (or most curious) and send them winging on their way.

Can't wait to see what I get back in exchange.  8-]

Blue Moon Leftovers

Well this was fun.  I had to stop myself from printing up every leftover piece of paper in the studio.  I only need 14 for the Leftovers II exchange.

I print my woodblocks face down, but this is basically how I aligned my leftover pieces of paper on the block.

Haven't decided if I'll sign and label them on the back, or on the front with a metalic pen.  Don't know which "rule" to break:  the sign-it-in-pencil rule or the sign-it-on-the-front rule.  ;- j

Any suggestions?

Blue Moon Block

This is a reprint of an old block for the Loscon Artshow last Nov.  Love the stars.  One of my larger blocks.

This should have posted to the Nov. slot, but I guess you have to have something on the page to reserve the slot, so it posted here.

Going thru and adding labels to posts.  There are hundreds.  This is going to take some time.

Now that's kewl. ;-] I'm figuring out which tools do what: stir to the left, stir to the right, gather, repel. That sort of thing. Sounds like spell-casting. ;- j

This image was the dolphin room in Knossos palace. It's the colors that make the finished product. It doesn't seem to require the same proportions, tho, as evident in the amount of blue.

Tree-Moon Fluid Distortion

My first computer graphical image. 8-] I started with an image of a quilt block and ended up with a fluid distortion crafted into a tree and the moon. w00t!

This was fun. And so mesmerizing. I played with this for hours in Photo Shop, fiddling around and finding a filter I liked. I can get into this!

I tried to pick up a book on digital art at B&N, but there was just too much I couldn't make heads nor tails of. So I just came home and started poking around with the program. Once I understand a bit more, I may be able to get a book and see what I'm doing.

Hmmm. I'm pretty sure this is the bear paw block I started with. I must have really stirred those colors to get them to blend like that. Or perhaps I somehow zeroed in on one section? I'll have to try it again and see if I get something similar.

Nude Moon & Star

5x6 linocut, b&w, rev faux-print

First linocut. Almost too easy to cut -- have to be careful not to gouge the block. I scanned in the block, flipped it, darkened it to mimic a print. Looks pretty good. Have to try printing it tomorrow and see what I really get.

More viscosity monoprints. Yellow first, then red -- wipe background -- finally blue. First one is very dynamic (also early in the day). ;-j

Blue straight, red with burnt plate oil, yellow with miracle gel. Yellow repels other two, so I do the moon first, then blue, then red. On second print red was already adulterated with other colors, so it leans toward maroon. Still looks interesting. These are ATC size, currently on 5"x5.5" paper.
