Generic still. Want to try Oscar, a better Gabby. Size them better. A better Meechee.
Size is variable. I can have more trees on the side, more stars in the sky. Then I can make it match the card shape. Probably longer, so I might add a dog or two more (or just more trees).
Starting to draw SH dogs.

Time to work on the xmas card for 2017. Bouncing ideas around. Here's one:
People like the idea of multiple SH critters, and I'm thinking something like this ~ only Therese would be replaced by Mrs. Claus. And other dogs/cats can be added/subtracted as needed.
Just a concept, so of course I can use a different pic of Mrs. Claus, but it gives me an idea.
Mrs. Claus (or Santa) can have a basket of dog biscuits/cat treats (like a catnip mouse?). Getting complex. I'm sure I can cut it down to essentials.
I'd need pics of everyone's animals and work in what I can. Maybe be real stylized or cartoony.
I'm starting late, so I'm not sure I'll have enough time for so complex a card this year. Perhaps next year.
I can do a snowy tree scene with castle on a hill. Maybe a sleigh.
Dogs from rear getting Santa treat.
Stylized breeds to match SH dogs. I could do that.
I'm liking this wintry scene with the SH castle instead of a tree. Tina suggests a line of doggy bottoms in the foreground, with a title, "Have a howling good Christmas!" Not bad. Maybe a howling posture tho instead of the Jayne's view.

Background block is ready for a test print. Foreground block is started.
I should run the slanted lines on the background block into the negative space for the balloon, to cover any mismatch in printing.
I'll print the background block in a blue or a blue-green. The foreground block will be printed in black, with pastel added afterward to make the elements bright.

I want to print up my Nicky and Gabby blocks, but Signy's a bit of a drawback. Right now she's in heat, so there's no sending her off to SH for the day. So I need to come up with another idea.
It occurred to me that I used to wet the paper (especially for oil-based inks). But it also works with water-based inks. I can set up the card table(s) and soak and blot my paper. Then I might try printing with a baren, counting on the damp paper to take up ink more easily. At least I'd like to try it.
I'll only be printing b&w and adding pastel color later. Just spots of color.
And here's mir image of the blocks. Possibly print more of an ocher colorway?
