Tree-Moon Fluid Distortion

Tree-Moon

My first computer graphical image. 8-] I started with an image of a quilt block and ended up with a fluid distortion crafted into a tree and the moon. w00t!

This was fun. And so mesmerizing. I played with this for hours in Photo Shop, fiddling around and finding a filter I liked. I can get into this!

I tried to pick up a book on digital art at B&N, but there was just too much I couldn't make heads nor tails of. So I just came home and started poking around with the program. Once I understand a bit more, I may be able to get a book and see what I'm doing.
Hmmm. I'm pretty sure this is the bear paw block I started with. I must have really stirred those colors to get them to blend like that. Or perhaps I somehow zeroed in on one section? I'll have to try it again and see if I get something similar.

Ellen, you made me chuckle... Isn't it interesting that, no matter how intelligent an artist, the 'hands on' method always seems to be the preferred one. I love the image. It has a very soft, metallic gleam. I would never have guessed it came from a quilt block! I look forward to more experiments.

Ooooer! Spooky tree! :-) Nice image. Poking around a programme is really the best way to discover it's capabilities. I taught myself to use Painter this way and am now completely confident in it. Photoshop however, still boggles me and I only use to to get artwork ready for the publisher.
Good work!

Thanx Diane,

Yeah, there's nothing like hands-on all right. I was amazed myself. I just kept "stirring" until all the colors ran together. ;->

Thanx Sue,

I usually use Paint Shop Pro for everything, but it doesn't have all the neat bells and whistles of Photo Shop. So I'm determined to finger-poke till I find them all. ;-j

I really like your Christmas card on your site. Is that done with a computer?
