2019 Xmas Card

Ta-Da!  It's bootyful.

Printing

With a baren.  I miscalculated the thickness of the block and it doesn't fit on the press (who knew?).

So I made a couple test prints and a couple that might do for the card.  I may do some more tomorrow, but this was all I could manage today.

 

More Carving on a Rainy Day

Getting there.  I expect there will be some recarving of the finer lines, but I should be making a test print shortly.

Coming along.  Getting close.  Lots more detail yet.  And I kinda know I'll have to deepen some of those fine lines.

Dark version of the block tho show more contrast.  Coming along.  I can see where a lot of my lines are (as usual) too fine.  I'll see how it prints when I finally ink it up.

Latest Iteration

Playing with the motifs of castle, knight and tree.  I like a smaller castle in the distance, knight in the middle ground, but larger, and tree even larger in front.

Cartoon

Moved a couple elements around.

Portrait I think, instead of landscape this time.  I'll probably add some more stars to the sky.

Graphical Lino Image

I may make this one portrait instead of landscape.  Change the knight up a bit.  I like the front facing horse, but it's too like the image I took it from.

With My Stars

I don't care for Van Gogh's stars, so I decided to do my own stars.  The ones I prefer to carve.

Darker Pastel

There's a bit of a shadow on the image from the camera, but otherwise it's ok.  Darker.  I hate Van Gogh's style, but it actually will lend itself to carving, so that's ok.  If I had to color the thing like he did I'd go mad too.

I might try a snowy scene next, or something less green (except for the tree).

Another Sketch ~ Starry Knight

This is the same layout as the original.  I'll probably need more room all around.  It's basically a 5x7 card.

There's a Starry Night meme that show's up in a lot of variations.  I'm going to do one for the xmas card.

 

 

I like the knight in the middle ground.  Tho I could be persuaded.

I think I'll work on a chimera woodcut sometime.  I like these latest catbird variations.

Playing with Pastel Pencils

Having fun coloring with pastel pencils.  They blend really nicely with a blending stump.  Working on feathers for my chimeras.

Cat-crow Chimera

Drew a couple more chimeras.

Airship Mouse

Wheel covered up too much steamy gear, so I opted for a spyglass instead.

He needs a watch and chain on his vest.

Airship Capt
