Breaking Down Paper

I've broken down the paper ~ Arches 88 ~ for a smooth finish.  If I decide to play with watercoloring afterward, I'll switch to BFK Rives for texture.

In the meantime, it's black and white ~ and tapped in color.

Slightly narrowed faux print, closer to the xmas card shape

Colored in a pale faux print.  The dogs and portcullis bars will be darker.

Messing with Colorways

Messing with colorways.  Had a brilliant (possibly cold-crazed) idea to print it in black with points of color highlights.

Here's a faux print w/ added color:

Red of eye, yellow of wing, blue of petal.  ;- ]

I think I like it.

Going to pull out my baren and do a couple test prints that way.  I don't do the baren well, but I'm not ready to "fire" up the press yet.  And it'll give me an idea  if my color spots will work.

City Block - Faux Print

Here we go.  Bill did the "laying on of hands" that always fixes my computer (mind you I did the same thing he did -- reseated a plug -- but I don't have the proper faith in computers that he does).  So my scanner is now working again and I can make a faux print (i.e., a black & white, mirrored image of the block to see what a print might look like).

Ok, now all I have to do is get a local paper to wrap it up in (part of the requirement) and then send it winging off to the City of the World Puzzle Project.

Xmas Card - Second Block

Second block printed (all at once, as the rainy weather kept the ink from drying out).  8-]

I think the project was an overall success (altho at this point all I see are the glaring errors).  ;- j

Now I wait for them to dry and then scan them into the computer and start making the xmas cards with Vista Print.  I am so behind on this project.  I think the xmas cards are going to be new year's cards this year.  ;- y

Finished Carving Umi's Tears

Finished carving finally.

Now I'm ready for a test print, but in the meantime, here is a faux print - b&w mirror image of the block:

So now I tear down the paper and pull out the ink...to be continued.

~*~

Will had a suggestion about color.  I said I was thinking of going with blue, in keeping with the water theme, and he suggested blue with a turq. center.  Sort of bluey-green.  Interesting.  I'll experiment.  Whatever I do it'll be rolled on or tapped in as it's one block.

Paleo-Turkey

this is a faux print (i.e., mirrored and grey-scaled)

this is a scan of the block

Fall is not the turkey's favorite season. The block is not very good. Kept chipping across the grain. I'll have to find out what this is so I can avoid it in future.

Turkey still needs a little detail.
